I've been taking a nostalgic jump back into the Wrestling I grew up watching, and when this character popped up at the end of Wrestlemania 8 - I knew I had to draw him.
Sadly, as with many gimmicks, Papa Shango didn't quite hit the potential he could've and is regarded by many to be one of the worst. In hindsight, he could have been an iconic heel that fans would fondly recall to this day.
Picture this shambling mass of tattered cloth, chattering bones and necklaces, emerging from the shadows (don't even have him use the entrance, have him appear out of the crowd) with a walking stick topped off with a skull that spews smoke from its eye sockets. He uses curses (like he famously did, causing the Ultimate Warrior to mysteriously start bleeding) and voodoo dolls to mess with the faces, and would serve as a mysterious crime lord of sorts - remaining in the back and using lesser heels to do the heavy lifting. Then finally, the lead face in his angle - let's say Ultimate Warrior - would lay the challenge out, title on the line - no smoke and mirrors, a one on one fight! This gets the big reveal as Shango takes off his tatters and we see he is actually a massive muscular fighter. Then we get and awesome match to wrap up the whole shebang.
