Quick marker drawing done as both a cool down and warm up drawing. (Pencils last night, and inks today.)
Lockdown was one of my favorite parts from Transformers Animated. I liked the show overall, but I enjoyed the concept behind his character alot. He's actually a good example of what I think is missing from the newer Transformer series.
We keep getting brand new universes, but each has a similar cast. The fact that we have 12 Optimus Primes each with a slightly different personality and life, strikes me as kinda lazy.
If you look back at the original G1 universe it featured a huge cast, and as time progressed we got even more new characters. We got new leaders with Rodimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, Fortress Maximus, and so on...
I've said it before, and I'll say it again... I would love to see the writers and designers of the next series (comic or animated) given free reign to do whatever they want. As long as the story revolves around two warring factions of robots that change from humanoids to vehicles (or animals) I'll be happy.
Sadly, it looks like the next show will be a spin-off of the Bay movie-verse. So expect another Bumblebee to join the 14000 others on the toy shelves this fall.
Yeah, a perfect example of a brand new character that makes enough of an impact that people like it and want to see it continue into newer generations in some form.
I swear, if I had my way the next series would feature an all new cast, and they would be mostly Headmasters. I've always liked the way the Headmasters worked in the Japanese show, where the head was the core bot, and the body was a powerup.
That and I really want a Headmaster toy using todays advanced tech.
Oh yeah, I totally agree with ya there, probably why I liked the Armada Overload toy because that was the intended idea for him; that the Mini-Con was the core bot and the big body was just like a giant power armour thing, but TF style
Absolutely, todays tech could give us a WICKED new take on Headmasters, if only Hasbro would listen to us!
