Heads Up 179 - Beetle

The Spider-Foes Week Series continues with the alluring armored antagonist, the Beetle.

Originally my Beetle design was in the reject pile, and was gonna get skipped, but when talking to a friend about these he mentioned doing the female Beetle instead. (My original plans would have left only White Rabbit to represent villainesses.) I was gonna talk about how I couldn't jump to her when the premise of these pics is my Spider-verse like I was in charge of a new cartoon or separate continuity comic - but I quickly came up with a way to reconcile that issue. So with the writing clear, I started adapting my idea for Beetle to a female wearer - and I think she turned out way better than the hulking tank my first idea for Beetle was going to. I also have to credit my love of Kamen Rider, which allowed me to avoid the dreaded "sculpted boobs chest plate" and create an armored padding that flows better with the rest of the suit.

Janice Lincoln wants to be like her dad, but she wants to do it her own way and not just coast on his success. This is an admirable trait, except for the fact that her father is Tombstone, the criminal overlord. After a brief (and in the end bitter) stint as a lawyer, Janice decided that she had tried the straight and narrow that her father wanted her to - now it was her time to shine!

Abner Jenkins is a man with a dream. A dream of building a flight suit allowing the wearer to soar through the skies like a jet. A dream that has eaten all of his life savings, cost him all his possessions, and left him in heavy debt to the kind of people that you don't want to be near; let alone owe a debt to.  The day came when his debtors would come to collect, and Abner knew he couldn't escape... But instead of a bullet, he was met by a charming young woman with an offer. If he would supply her with a flight/combat suit she would clear all his debts to her father.  After a few months and a few rejected designs, Abner was finally debt free, and Janice was ready to make the world fear her power!
