Heads Up 190 - Jet Jaguar

Super Hero Week continues with that towering titan from Toho...

In a world of monsters, why wouldn't someone create a hero? Advanced to the point of near sentience, able to grow in size, and possibly our only hope against the rampaging monsters that plague us - Jet Jaguar stands tall and proud.

While often referred to as being "one of the worst Godzilla films", I have a huge soft spot for Godzilla vs Megalon - mostly due to this guy right here. Jet Jaguar was a stand out in a world of crazier and crazier monsters, with his Ultraman-style. However unlike Ultraman, Magma, or many of the other giant heroes that popped up in tokusatsu stuff, JJ was created by a human, and was a fully artificial robot. I think this angle is the one I would go with if I were to reintroduce JJ into a modern Godzilla story. A scientist who grew up in a world of monsters, where the only heroes are in fiction. Of course he would create one himself!
